Ellen Chuse has worked with pregnant women and their families since 1984. As a Certified Childbirth Educator she teaches childbirth preparation classes to a wide variety of clients and has provided postpartum and parent support for individuals, couples and groups. In 1993 she received her certification in Holistic Pregnancy and Birth Counseling with Dr. Gayle Peterson, PhD. Ellen maintains a private practice as a Childbirth Educator and Birth Counselor in both Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Over the years Ellen Chuse has been affiliated with various institutions including St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center, The Long Island College Hospital and the Elizabeth Seton Childbearing Center. She is listed in resource guides including The New York Guide to a Healthy Birth and City Baby. In 2006 Ellen was filmed for a new 26 part PBS series Real Moms, Real Stories, Real Savvy. She has contributed to articles for major magazines including American Baby and Ladies Home Journal.

Ellen Chuse has served as President of the Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York ( CEA/MNY ). She served on the Board of Directors for over 22 years and remains active in the organization. Ellen is a teacher and mentor in the CEA/MNY Teacher Certification Program and serves as a resource for many organizations in the birth community. In 2002 Ellen received the First Annual Award for Excellence in Childbirth Education. In 2014 the award was renamed the Ellen Chuse Childbirth Educator of the Year Award and she was its first recipient. Ellen is the mother of two daughters and now a proud grandmother as well. She lives and works in Park Slope Brooklyn.
